Born in 1828, in Bielsk, Marienwerder, Prussia, son of Peter Klein and Marianna Gapowna. He died on 5 July 1886, aged 58, at around nine in the morning, at his home in the Lamenha settlement, in the municipality of Curitiba, PR, as a result of consumption. He was buried at the Abranches cemetery. The last rites were administered by the chaplain Father Francisco Xavier Gurowski.
He married Antonia Kowalska on 25 September 1853 in Pehsken, Marienwerder, Prussia. They emigrated to Curitiba around 1877 and settled in the Lamenha Colony in 1878. They had at least fourteen children.
