Born at approximately six in the morning on 17 August 1895, in Santana, Madeira, Portugal, and baptised on 8 September 1895, at the Sant'Ana Parish Church. Daughter of Germana de Jesus, single, employed in domestic work, born in the parish of Porto da Cruz, in the municipality of Machico, resident at Sítio dos Lamaceiros, in Santana, and father unknown. Her godfather was José Marques Malho and her godmother Ana Marques de Jesus. She married João Gomes Garanito on 18 June 1914 in Santana, Madeira. They had at least three children. She died on 20 November 1967, aged 72, in the parish of Monte, Funchal, Madeira.
